If your store is set up with a default currency (e.g., EUR) but you're dealing with returns in another region (e.g., US customers), you might notice a mismatch between the refund amount displayed in WeSupply and what's expected. Here's why.
💡 How Refunds Work in WeSupply
- WeSupply does not handle currency conversion.
- When an order is imported into WeSupply, it includes the original amount in what we call Monetary Units—this is simply the exact value sent to us from your eCommerce platform (like Shopify).
- The refund amount you see in WeSupply reflects the converted value based on your store's default currency.
- The actual refund conversion happens on your store platform, when it's processed by the payment provider.
🛠️ Example
- A US order refunded through a Euro-based store may show $49.57 in WeSupply, while the customer was originally charged $56.39 USD.
- This is expected if the € amount was $49.57 at the time of refund conversion.
✅ TL;DR
- No bug here — this is standard behavior.
- If there's a mismatch, double-check your store’s default currency and how Shopify (or your platform) handles conversion during refunds.
- WeSupply passes back the amount in monetary units, and Shopify handles the conversion.
