Overview
If you're processing returns for international orders (e.g., US returns via an EU portal) and the refund amounts seem incorrect, the issue is likely related to currency handling, not a bug in WeSupply.
💡 How Currency Works in WeSupply
WeSupply does not perform currency conversions.
- We display all prices and refund values exactly as they’re received from your eCommerce platform (e.g., Shopify), in Monetary Units.
- When processing a refund, WeSupply passes the refund value as-is back to your platform.
- The actual currency conversion (if needed) is handled by your payment provider or Shopify, not by WeSupply.
🛠️ Common Issue
When a return is created through a portal that uses a different currency (e.g., EU portal for a USD order):
- The system may display or send the refund in the wrong currency, or
- The platform receiving the refund request may not convert the amount, leading to under-refunding.
✅ How to Handle It
- Manually adjust the refund in Shopify when needed (as a workaround).
- Avoid cross-portal returns when currency mismatch is possible.
- Check with your payment provider or Shopify support to confirm how they handle incoming refund requests with currency discrepancies.
