If you need the flexibility to apply a restocking fee on a case-by-case basis, WeSupply allows you to handle restocking fees manually during the refund process. This setup gives you full control over each return, ensuring accurate refunds and exceptions when necessary.
Why Use Manual Restocking Fee Adjustments?
By managing restocking fees manually, you can:
- Apply or waive restocking fees depending on the situation
- Handle edge cases where standard refund logic doesn’t apply
- Ensure customers receive accurate refund amounts for their unique return scenarios
This is ideal for merchants who want to evaluate returns individually rather than rely on a fixed policy.
How to Manually Adjust Restocking Fees
1. Enable Manual Refunds
To start, make sure your return logic is configured to manually issue refunds.
This can be done in your return logic settings by disabling automatic refund actions.
2. Access the Returns Dashboard
Navigate to Returns Dashboard in your WeSupply admin panel and find the return you want to review.
3. Confirm Package Reception
Click on the return to open its details, then select Confirm Package Reception.
4. Adjust the Restocking Fee
Once the return status updates to Awaiting Refund:
- Review the Expected Refund Amount (e.g., $99.89)
- Enter your preferred Restocking Fee (e.g., $0 if waiving the fee)
- If there's a discrepancy, an error will appear indicating how much needs to be adjusted
- Modify the Return Cost or Refund Method to resolve the error
- Example: If $10 is missing, add it back to match the expected refund value
5. Issue the Refund
Once everything is balanced, click Issue Refund.
The refund will be processed without applying a restocking fee (or with a custom one, depending on your adjustment).
That’s It!
You’ve now manually adjusted the restocking fee for a return. This method allows for greater flexibility and personalized customer support.
