Overview
By default, WeSupply applies a restocking fee to each returned item within an order. However, some merchants prefer to apply the restocking fee only once per order (e.g., a flat $10 fee regardless of how many items are returned). While there is no direct toggle for “order-level restocking fees,” you can achieve this result using a workaround in the return logic.
Pre-requisites
Before setting this up, make sure:
- You have access to Settings → Return and Warranty Methods → Return Logics and Policies.
- You have at least one active return logic in your account.
- You are familiar with configuring Conditions and Advanced Settings in return logics.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 – Open Return Logic Settings
- Log into your WeSupply Admin Dashboard.
- Navigate to Settings → Return and Warranty Methods → Return Logics and Policies.
- Select an existing return logic or create a new one.
Step 2 – Adjust the Restocking Fee Rule
- Inside the selected return logic, scroll to the Conditions section.
- Create a condition where the Return Count is more than 1 per order.
- Set the logic so that when this condition is met, the restocking fee is not applied.
Step 3 – Configure Advanced Settings
- Navigate to Settings → Return and Warranty Methods → Advanced Settings.
- Make sure the option “Apply return cost to all requests” is turned off.
- This ensures that the restocking fee applies only once, instead of being duplicated when multiple return requests are created.
- This ensures that the restocking fee applies only once, instead of being duplicated when multiple return requests are created.
Step 4 – Save and Test
- Click Save Changes to confirm your setup.
- Test by creating an order with 2 or more products.
- Return them at different times.
- You should see that the restocking fee is applied only once for the entire order.
Examples / Best Practices
- This setup is best for merchants who charge a flat handling/restocking fee (e.g., $10) regardless of the number of items returned.
- Always test in a staging or low-impact environment before rolling it out live.
- If you frequently handle multi-location returns, double-check that “apply return cost to all requests” is disabled, otherwise fees may duplicate.
Troubleshooting / FAQ
Q: Why do I still see the fee applied per item?
A: Double-check that your condition is set to apply only when Return Count > 1 and that the advanced setting for applying return costs to all requests is OFF.
Q: Does this work if the customer returns items at different times?
A: Yes. The logic is designed so the fee applies only once, even if items are returned in separate requests.
Q: Can I set different fees for different order sizes?
A: Yes. You can create multiple logics with different fee amounts based on conditions such as order value, item count, or SKU.
