Overview
The default pre-shipment statuses might be pretty generic for some business models and don't give you much information about where your orders are at.
For example, Awaiting Shipment means that it has been pulled and packaged, but may still be sitting on a shelf waiting for the carrier to pick it up.
If this was updated to package Ready to be shipped for FedEx pickup, then customers can see exactly when their package will leave our warehouse so they can plan accordingly.
You can customize these statuses to anything you want (Painting, Assembling, Printing, Manufactured, etc.) and it allows you to provide more details about each step of fulfillment without having any additional work from your end.
Now everyone will know exactly where their order is at!
How to set up custom pre-shipment statuses in WeSupply?
Step 1
If you already have order custom statuses in Magento you can proceed to the next step.
If you would like to set up your custom statuses in Magento, take the steps listed in the following support article: Custom Order Status
Step 2
In this article, we take as examples two newly-created custom pre-shipment statuses ''Assembling'' and ''Ready to Ship''.
Your Order Statuses can be identified in your Magento Admin Panel -> Stores -> Order Status.
Here, you can see the label of the custom status under the ''Status'' column (e.g. ''Ready to Ship''), and the corresponding status code under the ''Status Code'' column (e.g. ''ready_to_ship").
Each status code needs to be identified as we need them at the next step to match the existing custom statuses in Magento with the ones set up in WeSupply.
Step 3
Log into your WeSupply account and go to Settings -> Branding -> Configuration:
Step 4
Scroll down to Custom Statuses and here you'll work with the Status Order, Status Name, and Status Code fields.
From the Status Order column, you can decide the order in which your custom statuses will be displayed to your customer on the order status events bar. The order can be established from 1, which is the first status that will be listed for your customers, to 5, which is the latest.
On the Status Name column, you can insert a name for each custom status. The label can either match exactly the same name as the one set up in Magento under ''Status'', or can carry a different name that will be displayed to the customer.
On the Status Code column, for each custom status, insert the corresponding status code that exists in Magento.
Note: The status code must be the same that exists in Magento under ''Status Code'' for a specific status.
Step 5
Click Save when all your statuses are set up. Once saved, custom email templates for each status will be automatically created.
How to enable email notifications for custom pre-shipment status in WeSupply?
Step 1
The new email templates can be found under Settings -> Branding -> Notifications -> Custom Status. Click Edit Template to customize the wording and design if needed:
Step 2
You can customize the design of the email notification to match the aesthetic of your brand and change the wording.
Read more on how to customize your emails here.
Click Publish when you're done to save the email design.
Step 3
To send over email updates to your customer with the newly created custom statuses, you can enable each notification by following the steps listed here.
Once notifications are enabled, each time a shipment is updated to one of the statuses set up above, customers will be notified accordingly right away.
