Oftentimes, tracking packages containing items that can be shipped and virtual products might be a pain point for e-commerce stores. Keeping and managing those orders in one place can be hard as well. And when customers call you asking why they can't look up either the shippable products or the digital ones, things might go crazy.
This is why we developed a solution to address such needs, and help you and your customers having a seamless order tracking experience.
Once the WeSupply Magento 2 extension is installed on your store, the order import for virtual goods will work out of the box. You won't need to look into any settings on your own to make this work. Whether that be an eBook, video course, music album, or any other virtual/downloadable product, those will be automatically synced into the system.
Note: To import digital/downloadable/virtual products in WeSupply, please take note that this functionality was launched in the WeSupply Toolbox v.1.10.13 - May 10, 2021. You must have installed on your Magento instance at least the 1.10.13 version of the WeSupply Toolbox or any of the versions that came after.
A. Order Import for Downloadable/Virtual products
WeSupply detects both Downloadable and Virtual products at order import, and automatically sends the Order Confirmation Email to your customers.
While being able to see in the Order Confirmation Email the products they purchased, customers can also click the Download link right from the email notification:
If your customers place orders with mixed products, ones that are shipped and ones that are virtual products, they can look up all products associated with a specific order on the same Order Detail Page:
For Downloadable products, once the order status is complete and the payment is captured, the Download link will become available on the Order Detail Page. The download link can be clicked and it'll take the customer into Magento from where the product can be downloaded.
B. Set up Return Rule for Downloadable/Virtual products
Another cool thing is that you can set up smart return rules for both Downloadable and Virtual products by targeting the Item Status of the product.
You can offer a specific return window or set up these types of products as non-returnable.
Log into your WeSupply account and go to Settings -> Returns -> Return Policies -> Create new logic:
Go to Conditions ->click Add:
Create return conditions by selecting:
Item Status -> is -> Downloadable - > Confirm and/or
Item Status -> is -> Virtual - > Confirm.
Continue setting up the return rule with specific options, and click Save.
