WeSupply offers a flexible return and exchange experience, including the ability to limit exchanges to item variants of the same product and price. This feature ensures your customers can only exchange a product for another version of the same item — for example, a different size or color — as long as the variant costs the same.
Why This Is Useful
By enabling same-item variant exchanges, you simplify the process for both your team and your customers. This prevents customers from exchanging for higher-priced items unintentionally and ensures that all exchanges remain cost-neutral. Combined with the carry-over item discount option, customers who originally purchased a discounted product won’t lose their discount when exchanging — a great way to maintain transparency and satisfaction.
How to Set Up Exchanges for the Same Item Variants
Follow the steps below to configure your account to only allow exchanges for same-item variants with the same price:
-
Go to Return Logic Settings
- In your WeSupply account, navigate to your Return Logic settings.
- Make sure Exchanges are enabled.
- Enable the option "Only allow exchanges for variants of the same product with the same price".
-
Enable Carry-Over Item Discount (Optional)
- Still within your return logic settings, you can turn on the Carry-Over Item Discount option.
- This ensures the original discount is applied to the exchanged item.
-
Set Up Return Locations
- Navigate to Settings → Locations → Manage Locations.
- Choose your default return location. If you have multiple locations but want returns to go to one place, disable the return location setting on all other locations and leave it enabled only on your preferred return location.
-
Test the Exchange Flow
- Use an incognito window to simulate a return as a customer.
- When selecting “Exchange for something else,” customers will only see variants of the same item (e.g., different sizes or colors) if they are priced equally.
- No additional charges will be applied if the items have the same price and there is no return cost configured in your return logic.
-
Approve and Manage the Exchange
- Back in your WeSupply admin panel, open the newly created exchange.
- If it requires approval, use the dropdown menu to choose the appropriate return location.
- Create a return label, and the label will reflect the address of the selected location.
By following these steps, you can maintain control over your exchange policies while offering a clear and customer-friendly experience. If you have multiple locations or want to refine your return routing even further, be sure to manage your location settings accordingly.
