Estimated Delivery Rules are made for you to better handle products that have a longer processing time.
You might need to customize, engrave, build from scratch or you just have a backorder on a product? No worries, the rules will help you overcome those situations and still provide value, transparency for your customers.
Here's a video tutorial on how to set up Estimated Delivery Dates and how the Estimated Delivery Rules work! Let's get started! :)
Step 1
Before going ahead and create an Estimated Delivery logic, you have to enable your default estimates courier. Select the Courier and Shipping Method based on which you would like to calculate the estimated delivery date on the product page. As you might have multiple couriers on the Checkout and Cart page, you need to choose the preferred one for the product page.
Go to Settings -> Carriers -> Delivery Promise Date Carriers -> select the Courier and the Shipping method -> click Save.
Step 2
Simply go to Settings -> Delivery Promise Date -> Promise Date Policies -> Add new logic:
Step 3
Define the Estimate's Logic name -> activate the logic by clicking on the Inactive/Active toggle button and let's jump into creating your first exception.
Step 4
Into the Conditions section -> click on Add Condition and select the filter you'd like to apply to this particular logic.
a. Product Attribute: this option will check your product attribute as the customer navigates the website and automatically applies the rule to any product that has the selected attribute.
This is a great option to mass target products from your catalogs such as Colors, Brands, Sizes, or any other custom attribute you might have.
b. Product Feed Attribute: Simply define an attribute in your product feed and mass target products without the need of modifying your catalog.
This is a great option if you need to add processing time delay to an extended number of random products in a short time. Simply add your attribute to your feed, re-upload the feed, and done.
c. Product SKU: You can target specific products based on the SKU numbers.
You will probably use this if you have specific products that require extra time to process such as back-ordered products, customization, etc.
We want to create a logic for all Blue Color products and add an additional 5 days to the processing time. On the Conditions section set the ones you'd like to be applied and click Add.
Step 5
Into the Configuration section, you can set up the Estimate Window for the estimated delivery time. Estimate Window option allows you to select how many extra days you need to process a specific order based on the above rule.
Exclusive Logic acts as a priority, let's say you have one logic for all blue products with extra 5 days, but for this specific product (that is color=blue) you have a backorder of 2 weeks. In that situation, you will set an SKU specific logic with 2 weeks estimate window and select exclusive logic to Yes. This will guarantee that customers will get an accurate estimated delivery date.
From the Exclusive logic option, you can select whether or not this logic is an exclusive one. The exclusive logic will ignore all other logics and prioritize this one for all the products that it applies to.
Click Save.
