Handling exchanges can sometimes be tricky when discounts are applied. In certain cases, like affiliate-linked discounts that don’t register in Shopify’s Discounts app, WeSupply may not automatically account for these discounts during an exchange. Why Affiliate Discounts Aren’t Applied Automatically
When discounts are applied via affiliate links or other methods outside Shopify’s Discounts app, WeSupply cannot retrieve or apply the discount details during an exchange. This limitation occurs because the discount data is not accessible in the usual Shopify discount records that WeSupply references.
How to Handle Exchanges Involving Affiliate Discounts
- Manually Adjust the Exchange Amount:
- Review the discount applied to the original order (e.g., affiliate-linked discount).
- Calculate the correct price difference between the original items and the exchange items, factoring in the affiliate discount.
- Issue a Refund or Adjust Payment Outside WeSupply: If the customer is owed a refund or needs to pay a balance, process the amount manually through your Shopify admin or payment gateway.
- Notify Customers About the Adjustment: Inform the customer of the manual adjustment and why the affiliate discount wasn’t automatically applied during the exchange process.
