WeSupply is excited to introduce a new feature that can significantly enhance your return process: Return Insurance. This feature allows customers to opt into purchasing insurance for their returns, offering added peace of mind for both your business and your customers. Return insurance covers the cost of returns in case of issues like lost or damaged packages, making it a smart addition to any online business.
Why Implement Return Insurance?
Return insurance is a great way to protect both your business and your customers. For businesses, it helps mitigate the risk and costs associated with returns, reducing the financial impact on your operations. For customers, it provides reassurance that if their return encounters issues during shipping, they won’t be left at a disadvantage. This added layer of security can also improve customer satisfaction and loyalty, as customers are more likely to feel confident in making a purchase when they know they have protection in place for returns.
Availability only for Shopify Stores
Currently, the Return Insurance feature is available exclusively for Shopify stores. If you use Shopify for your online business, you can easily set up this feature and start offering return insurance to your customers right away.
How to Set Up Return Insurance in Shopify and WeSupply?
To get started with return insurance, follow these simple steps:
- Create the "Return Insurance" Product:
- Go to your Shopify admin panel and create a new product titled “Return Insurance.”
- Make sure the product is published only for the online store, and disable quantity tracking (as this is not a physical product).
- After saving the product, copy the product ID from the URL.
- Customize Your Branding:
- WeSupply now allows you to fully customize the look and feel of the return insurance option.
- You can customize the product title displayed at checkout, as well as the message under the product.
- Additionally, you can add a link to your return policy for transparency.
- Customize the color of the toggle to match your store’s branding, ensuring that the insurance option blends seamlessly with your checkout flow.
- Enable Return Insurance in Your Shopify Theme:
- Navigate to Sales Channel → Online Store → Themes → Customize.
- Click on App Embeds in the left menu and enable the “Insurance” option.
- Save your changes and adjust the cart type to “drawer” in the Cart Section.
- Configure Return Insurance in WeSupply:
- In WeSupply, go to Settings → Return Methods and Warranties → Return Insurance.
- Paste the product ID you saved earlier from Shopify.
- Set your insurance price: You can choose either a percentage of the product price or a fixed price that applies to the entire cart. For percentage-based pricing, it applies per item. If you choose a fixed price, the same amount will be applied to the entire cart.
- You can also set a minimum amount for the insurance, that will be applied if the percentage of the items falls below that. For example, if we set it as $5, if the percentage of all bought items is below that, the insurance will cost $5. If it goes above that, then it will be calculated.
- In WeSupply, go to Settings → Return Methods and Warranties → Return Insurance.
Final Sale Detection
To prevent return insurance from applying to final sale items, you can enable the Final Sale Detection setting in WeSupply. This allows you to set a condition based on product attributes (e.g., "final sale" tags). If any item in the cart has this attribute, return insurance will not apply.
Customer Experience
Your customers will be able to see this in the Shopify cart, as it is automatically calculated. They will have the ability to enable or disable it.
By following these steps, you’ll have the Return Insurance feature fully set up and integrated with your Shopify store. Customers can now opt in for return insurance when making a purchase, adding an extra layer of protection for their return shipments.
Conclusion
Return insurance is a valuable tool for online retailers looking to reduce return-related risks and improve customer satisfaction. By offering this feature, you can safeguard your returns process and provide a positive, worry-free shopping experience for your customers. Take advantage of this feature now if you’re using Shopify, and enjoy the added peace of mind it brings to both your business and your shoppers.
